Across continents and generations, ironwork has served as both protection and expression, marking thresholds, framing homes, and carrying symbols through everyday design. Corazón draws from this living tradition, echoing a motif also recognized as Sankofa, an Adinkra emblem of the Akan people of West Africa that reminds us we must return to the past in order to move forward.
Throughout Puerto Rico, such forms became part of the ordinary landscape, woven into balconies, gates, and facades that shaped our collective memory. As many disappear through systemic neglect, redevelopment, and time, this piece reclaims them as artifact and adornment.
Corazón joins our Reja Criolla® collection as a tribute to the visual language that shaped us. Homes that may no longer stand, places now forgotten, and memories that continue to live within us. Corazón is a vessel for remembering.
